Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- pkg - 1 oz
- butter - 1 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 2 c
- plain flour
- nuts, chopped - 2 c
- can flaked coconut - 1 1/2
- candy orange slices - 1 pkg
- Cream butter and sugar well and then add eggs one at a time
How to make orange slice cake:
Combine orange slices, dates, nuts and coconut with 1/2 cup of flour. Cream butter and sugar well and then add eggs one at a time. Combine 1/2 teaspoon soda with buttermilk and add alternately with the flour. Add the candy and nut mixture and pour into tube pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 35 to 45 minutes. Remove from oven. Pour the icing over it while hot.Icing:1 c. orange juice2 c. powdered sugar Combine ingredients and mix well. Pour over the cake while hot. Cool and let stand in the pan in the refrigerator overnight before removing it from the pan.
