Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 Tbsp
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 1/2 c
- warm milk - 1 c
- grated peel from 2 or 3 oranges with good skins
- Mix 2 teaspoons sugar, yeast and water
- Cinnamon Rolls:1/2 c
How to make orange rolls:
Mix first 4 ingredients. Mix 2 teaspoons sugar, yeast and water. Add yeast mixture, egg and flour a little at a time to form a smooth dough. Oil top; let raise until double. Work down to get air out. Take portion of dough and roll to 1/4 inch thickness; brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with orange peel and 2 cups sugar mixture. Roll up like jelly roll; slice in 1/2 inch slices and place in lightly greased baking pan. Let rise until double.
