Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- almond extract - 1 tsp
- baking powder
- cream of tartar - 1 tsp
- plus 2 Tbsp - 3/4 c
- orange juice - 1/4 c
- grated orange rind - 2 Tbsp
How to make orange pound cake:
Cream butter; add sugar, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine next 4 ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and orange juice, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in flavoring and orange rind. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 25 to 30 minutes. Cool cake in pan 10 minutes.
