Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • butter or margarine
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour
  • almond extract - 1 tsp
  • baking powder
  • cream of tartar - 1 tsp
  • plus 2 Tbsp - 3/4 c
  • orange juice - 1/4 c
  • grated orange rind - 2 Tbsp

How to make orange pound cake:

Cream butter; add sugar, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine next 4 ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and orange juice, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in flavoring and orange rind. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 25 to 30 minutes. Cool cake in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
