  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 4 item
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • orange rind - 2 Tbsp
  • juice of 1/2 orange
  • soda, added to buttermilk - 1 tsp
  • salt, added to buttermilk - 1/2 tsp
  • Add whole eggs, one at a time, and beat after each

How to make orange pound cake:

Cream sugar and butter. Add whole eggs, one at a time, and beat after each. Add half of flour and buttermilk. Beat for one minute. Add remaining flour and buttermilk and the flavoring. Beat 2 minutes more. Bake in tube pan for 1 hour at 350°. Toothpick test when done.Icing:2 Tbsp. grated orange rind juice of 1/2 orange1 box powdered sugar3 Tbsp. butter Add grated orange rind and orange juice to powdered sugar. Melt butter and add, spoonful by spoonful, until mixture can be spread easily.
