Orange chocolate chip cookies

granulated sugar - 1/2 c
vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp
salt - 1/2 tsp
flour
brown sugar - 1/4 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips - 12 oz
baking soda - 3/4 tsp
egg - 1 item
egg yolk - 1 item
orange - 1 item
butter at room temperature - 6 oz

How to make orange chocolate chip cookies:

Heat oven to 325°. Grate 1 1/2 teaspoon of colored zest from orange and squeeze 2 tablespoons of juice. Combine flour, soda and salt. Beat butter, sugars and orange zest until fluffy. Beat in egg, yolk, vanilla and orange juice. Beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips with spoon. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until edges start to brown, about 15 minutes. Let stand on baking sheets 1 minute and remove to wire racks. Makes about 3 dozen.
