- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- confectioners sugar - 2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- orange juice - 1/2 c
- grated orange rind
- lemon rind - 1 Tbsp
- orange rind - 2 Tbsp
How to make orange cake:
Icing:2 Tbsp. butter2 c. confectioners sugar1/2 c. orange juice2 Tbsp. orange rind1 Tbsp. lemon rind Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter and sugar. Add grated orange rind. Beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Add dry ingredients, alternately with orange juice. Turn into greased loaf pan. Be sure to use fresh shortening. Bake 1 hour at 350°.Orange Icing (Uncooked): Combine butter, confectioners sugar, orange juice or enough to make a good spread, orange rind and lemon rind. Cool cake before spreading.
