  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • margarine or butter - 2 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c

How to make orange biscuits:

Combine flour, baking powder, 2 teaspoons sugar and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center. Add peel, 1/3 cup orange juice and milk. Stir just until dough clings together.

Knead dough gently, 10 to 12 strokes, on a lightly floured surface. Roll or pat dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter; dip cutter into flour between cuts. Transfer to a greased baking sheet. Brush biscuits with orange juice; sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a 450° oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 8 to 10.
