Ingredients/Components
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- Swiss cheese - 1 item
- large onions - 4 item
- bread slices - 1 item
- Dijon or other dark mustard - 1 Tbsp
- beef broth or 10 bouillon cubes plus 10 c - 10 c
How to make onion soup:
Slice onions and saute until light brown; add flour, mustard and seasonings. Carefully add water or broth. Simmer for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours or more. To serve, place soup in bowls; add slices of bread and cheese. Microwave each serving until cheese melts.Recipe categories: Low protein, Low cholesterol, Soups & stews.
