Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1/3 c
  • white sugar - 1/3 c
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • catsup - 1/4 c
  • mustard - 1 tsp
  • ground beef - 1/2 lb
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • barbecue sauce - 1/4 c
  • can red kidney beans - 1 item
  • can butter beans - 1 item
  • chopped bacon - 1/2 lb

How to make old settlers baked beans:

Brown together ground beef, chopped bacon and onion. Drain off excess fat. Mix together in a large bowl the brown sugar, white sugar, catsup, barbecue sauce, pepper, chili powder, salt and mustard. Add meat mixture, also add pork and beans, kidney beans and butter beans. Mix and pour all into large casserole. Bake in a 350° oven for 45 minutes. May be frozen before or after baking.
