- cold water - 6 c
- paprika - 1 item
- pepper - 1 item
- chopped celery - 1 c
- chopped carrots - 1/2 c
- onion, sliced - 1 item
- ham bone - 1 item
- split peas
- slices lemon - 11 item
How to make old-fashioned split pea soup:
Wash peas and put in a large saucepan; add ham bone, onion, 3 lemon slices, carrots, celery and water. Simmer 6 hours. Discard ham bone and lemon slices. Put soup through a coarse strainer; skim off surface fat. Return soup to saucepan and season wRecipe categories: Soups & stews, Canadian, Quebec.
