- stick butter - 1 item
- black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- whole chicken - 1 item
How to make old-fashioned chicken and dumplings:
Combine ingredients and cook until chicken is tender. Remove bones and skin. Set aside 2 cups of broth. Put chicken back into broth and boil. With one cup of water, make a stiff dough. Roll thin and cut into strips, about 2-inches long. Drop into chicken, a small part at a time. Cook without lid about 5 minutes.
