Okra gumbo
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- oleo - 3 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- can chicken broth - 1 3/4
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- can stewed tomatoes - 1 oz
- oregano - 1/8 tsp
- cloves garlic, chopped - 2 item
- cayenne pepper - 1/8 tsp
- thyme - 1/8 tsp
- Tabasco - 1/8 tsp
- finely chopped green onions - 1 c
- cooked chicken, chopped - 2 c
- cooked ham, chopped - 1 c
- medium chopped bell pepper - 1 item
How to make okra gumbo:
In a 4-quart pan, gently melt oleo. Add onions, bell pepper and garlic. Saute until softened. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and chicken broth. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat. Add seasonings, chicken, ham and okra. Simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve over fluffy white rice.Recipe categories: Main dish, Gumbo, Stew.
