Oatmeal molasses cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour - 8 c
- soda - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, beaten - 4 item
- ginger - 1 Tbsp
- hot water - 1/4 c
- light molasses - 2 c
- seedless raisins - 3 c
- melted shortening - 2 c
- ground pecans - 2 c
- oats quick - 8 c
- flour reserve - 1/2 c
How to make oatmeal molasses cookies:
Sift together the 8 cups flour, salt and soda. Mix oatmeal, sugar and ginger. Stir in melted shortening, molasses, eggs, water, sifted dry ingredients, nuts and raisins. Work dough by hand until well mixed. Add 1/2 cup flour if needed. Roll portions of dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with 3 1/2-inch cutter. Place on lightly greased sheets.
