Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour
- boiling water
- shortening - 1/3 c
- rolled oats - 1 c
- light molasses - 1/2 c
- active dry yeast - 2 pkg
- warm water 110~ to 115~ - 1/2 c
How to make oatmeal molasses bread:
In mixing bowl combine boiling water, rolled oats, shortening, molasses and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Combine, stirring to dissolve yeast and 1/2 cup warm water. Stir into lukewarm oatmeal mixture. Mix well. Then add eggs and flour. Mix thoroughly. Cover and let stand 15 minutes. Turn onto floured board. Shape into 2 loaves. Let rise in warm place (85°) until double (1 1/2 hours).
