Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1/2 c
  • flour - 1 c
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • water - 1/4 c
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • vegetable shortening - 3/4 c
  • salt optional - 1 tsp
  • oats - 3 c

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Heat oven to 350°. Beat sugar, shortening, eggs, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combine remaining ingredients; mix well.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.

Option: Put into a well-greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan and bake. Cut into bar cookies when cooled.
