Ingredients/Components
- vegetable shortening - 3/4 c
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1 c
- granulated sugar - 1/2 c
- egg - 1 item
- water - 1/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- oats - 3 c
- all-purpose flour - 1 c
- salt optional - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
How to make oatmeal cookies:
Preheat oven to 350°. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients. Mix well. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.For variety, add chopped nuts, raisins, chocolate chips or coconut.
