Ingredients/Components

shortening - 1/2 c
brown sugar - 1/2 c
granulated sugar - 1/2 c
beaten egg - 1 item
water - 1 Tbsp
vanilla - 1/2 tsp
sifted flour - 3/4 c
soda - 1/2 tsp
salt - 1/2 tsp
Quaker oats uncooked
chocolate chips or less - 1/2 pkg
or less butterscotch chips - 1/2 pkg

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Stir in beaten egg, water and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients, rolled oats and chips. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet and bake in a moderate oven at 350° for 12 minutes.
