  • brown sugar - 1 c

  • soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • hot water
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • quick oats - 1 c
  • stick butter or less - 1 item
  • Mix sugars, eggs, flour, shortening, soda and spices

How to make oatmeal cake:

Mix quick oats with hot water and set aside and let stand. Mix sugars, eggs, flour, shortening, soda and spices. Add oatmeal. Pour into greased pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.Icing:4 Tbsp. milk1 c. brown sugar1 stick butter (or less)1 c
