  • boiling water
  • quick oats - 1 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • flour
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • Set aside
  • egg whites, beaten - 2 item
  • nuts - 1 c

How to make oatmeal cake:

Pour hot water over oats. Set aside. Cream margarine and sugars. Add 1 egg, at a time and beat. Add oatmeal mixture to cream mixture. Then add dry ingredients. Mix. Bake in greased and floured pan at 350° for 20 minutes.Topping:1/2 stick margarine1 c. brown sugar2 egg whites, beaten1 c. nuts Over low heat, melt sugar and margarine. Blend in egg whites and nuts. Spread over hot cake. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
