  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla flavoring - 1 tsp
  • evaporated milk - 1/4 c
  • coconut - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • margarine - 1/2 c
  • quick cooking oats - 1 c
  • margarine, melted - 1/4 c
  • Cool completely

How to make oatmeal cake:

Place margarine, oats and water in a large bowl; stir well. Cool completely. Add remaining ingredients, stirring well. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Let set out of oven for 5 minutes. Add topping.Topping:1 c. brown sugar1/4 c. margarine, melted1/4 c. evaporated milk1 c. coconut1 c. chopped nuts Blend sugar with margarine; add milk, coconut and nuts. Spread topping on cake. Broil until bubbly, watching closely. Yield: 12 servings.
