  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 item
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • coconut - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 Tbsp
  • boiling water
  • self-rising flour
  • allspice - 1 tsp
  • quick cooking oats - 1 c
  • Cream sugar and eggs; add oat mixture and dry ingredients

How to make oatmeal cake:

Mix oats, water and margarine; let stand for 20 minutes. Cream sugar and eggs; add oat mixture and dry ingredients. Mix well. Turn into greased and floured pans. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until done.Icing/Topping:2 Tbsp. butter, softened1/4 c. milk3/4 c. brown sugar1 tsp. vanilla1 c. coconut chopped nuts Heat all ingredients except nuts and coconut in saucepan. Spread on cake.
