Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour
- stick margarine - 1 item
- brown sugar - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- shortening - 1/2 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- quick oats - 1 c
- Cream together shortening and sugars
How to make oatmeal cake:
Mix oats, boiling water and soda; let stand for 20 minutes. Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs and beat well. Add oats mixture. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in greased 13 x 9-inch pans. Bake at 300° for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool and frost with following frosting.Frosting:1 1/4 c. powdered sugar1 c. brown sugar1 stick margarine1 c. coconut Mix all ingredients and thin with cream. Spread on cake.
