Oatmeal batter bread
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- water
- margarine - 1 Tbsp
- oatmeal - 1 c
- light molasses - 1/2 c
- yeast - 2 pkg
- flour, divided - 3 c
How to make oatmeal batter bread:
Mix the salt, yeast and 2 cups flour in a large bowl. Combine the oatmeal, light molasses, water and margarine in a saucepan; heat to 120° to 130°. In mixer, add liquids to dry. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup flour; beat 2 minutes by hand. Stir in 2 1/2 cups flour. Cover bowl (no knead). Rise 45 to 60 minutes. Grease 2 (2-quart) casserole bowls; divide dough. Turn to grease top. Rise until double (30 to 45 minutes). Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
