Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- sour cream - 1 pt
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- egg yolks - 6 item
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- plain flour - 6 c
- unsalted butter - 1 lb
- unbeaten egg whites - 6 item
- Filling:3 medium cans ground walnuts
How to make nut roll:
Filling:3 medium cans ground walnuts1 c. sugar6 unbeaten egg whites Dough: Mix butter and flour together. Add remaining ingredients. Divide dough into 4 sections, wrapping each in wax paper, and refrigerate overnight. (Dough will be very soft.) The next day, roll each section on lightly floured surface into an 18-inch rectangle.Spread with above filling, or create your own, using apricots, pineapple, etc. Roll dough up from the short side in jelly roll style. Brush roll with an egg white and sugar mixture for a shiny glaze look. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 45 minutes. Yield: 4 rolls.
Note: Can slice dough for cookies.
