Never fail meringue
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 8 Tbsp
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- egg whites - 3 item
How to make never fail meringue:
Preheat the oven to 350°. Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan. Stir in water. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until thick and clear. Cool. Beat egg whites, salt and vanilla until soft mounds form. Add remaining sugar gradually, beating well after each addition. Add cornstarch mixture. Continue beating until meringue stands in stiff peaks. Mound onto cooled pie, sealing edges to pastry shell. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
