Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • milk - 1 c
  • flour
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • diced onion - 1 c
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • cottage cheese - 1/2 c
  • parsley - 1 Tbsp
  • tomato paste - 2 Tbsp
  • plain bread crumbs - 3/4 c
  • eggplant - 1 item
  • chopped meat - 1 lb

How to make moussaka:

Sauce:2 Tbsp. flour2 Tbsp. butter1 c. milk1 egg, beaten1/2 c. cottage cheese1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/4 tsp. nutmeg Grease casserole and sprinkle bread crumbs over bottom and sides. Peel, slice and saute eggplant in olive oil. Brown chopped meat, add onion and tomato paste, parsley, salt and pepper. Layer eggplant, sprinkle bread crumbs over. Add meat mixture.

Prepare sauce: Melt butter; cream in flour. Add egg and milk, then rest of ingredients. Cook until thickened. Pour over top of eggplant mixture. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until brown.
