Monte cristo sandwiches
Ingredients/Components
- mayonnaise - 1/4 c
- coarse-grained mustard - 1 Tbsp
- honey - 1 tsp
- slices sandwich bread - 8 item
- slices cooked turkey
- slices cooked ham
- slices Swiss cheese
- slices Cheddar cheese
- eggs, beaten - 3 item
- milk - 1/4 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 Tbsp
- vegetable oil - 1 item
- powdered sugar - 1 item
- raspberry or strawberry preserves optional - 1 item
How to make monte cristo sandwiches:
Combine mayonnaise, mustard and honey, stir well. Spread mixture on one side of each bread slice. Place on slice each of turkey, ham, Swiss cheese and Chedder cheese on top of 4 bread slices. Top with remaining bread. Cut each sandwich in half diagonally. Secure with wooden picks.Combine eggs, milk and flour and stir well. Dip each sandwich half into egg mixture. Carefully lower sandwich halves, one at a time into deep hot oil (375°). Fry until golden brown, turning once. Drain, remove wooden picks. Sift powdered sugar over hot sanwiches. Serve with preserves, if desired. Makes 4 servings.
