  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • yellow cornmeal - 1-1/2 c
  • hot bacon grease - 3 Tbsp
  • HOT IRON SKILLET - 1 item

How to make mom's cornbread:

Combine cornmeal, flour, salt and soda in large mixing bowl. Add egg and buttermilk. Mix until smooth. Stir in hot bacon grease. Return to hot skillet. Bake in pre-heated oven at 425° 18-20 minutes.
