Ingredients/Components
- molasses
- dry mustard
- mushrooms, sliced - 12 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- canned tomatoes - 2 c
- pepper and salt to taste - 1 item
- red kidney beans or mixture
- brown sugar do not omit
- zucchini, chopped optional - 1 item
How to make mom's baked beans:
Soak enough beans overnight to make 3 cups. Combine all the ingredients in a crock-pot, bean pot or suitable dish with cover for oven. (If too dry during cooking, add more tomatoes or tomato juice.) Bake in oven at 300° or slow cook for 12 1/2 to 13 hours.Recipe categories: Side dish, Beans, North american.
