Mom's apple cobbler
Ingredients/Components
- butter - 1/2 c
- sugar - 2 c
- water - 2 c
- sifted self-rising flour
- shortening - 1/2 c
- milk - 1/3 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- finely chopped apples* - 2 c
How to make mom's apple cobbler:
Heat oven to 350°. Melt butter in a 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish. Heat water and sugar until sugar melts. Cut shortening in flour. Add milk and roll out dough on a floured board. Shape into a large rectangle. Sprinkle apples and cinnamon evenly over dough. Roll up like a jelly roll. Slice dough into about 16 slices, 1/2-inch thick. Place in a pan with melted butter. Pour sugar syrup around rolls. They absorb all the liquid. Bake 55 to 60 minutes.*Other fruit: Fresh, frozen or canned may be used.
