Molasses crinkles
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- soda - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- molasses - 1/4 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- sifted flour
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
How to make molasses crinkles:
Mix together shortening, sugar, egg and molasses. Sift dry ingredients and stir in shortening mixture. Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of large walnuts. Dip tops in white sugar. Place sugar side up, 3 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2 or 3 drops of water to produce crackled surface.Important: Bake at 375° for 7 to 8 minutes. Makes a thick, chewy cookie with a crackled, sugary top.
