- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- milk - 6 Tbsp
- flour - 2 c
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sifted powdered sugar - 1 lb
- cube margarine - 1 item
How to make moist chocolate cake:
Icing:4 Tbsp. cocoa1 tsp. vanilla1 cube margarine6 Tbsp. milk1 lb. sifted powdered sugar1 c. chopped pecans Bring first four ingredients to a boil in a saucepan and pour over next two dry ingredients that have been sifted together. Mix well and add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and soda. Batter will be thin. Bake in a 9 x 13-inch greased and floured pan at 400° for 20 to 30 minutes or until center is done. Check with toothpick.Make frosting while cake is baking. Bring cocoa, margarine and milk to a boil. Add sugar and mix well. Add vanilla and chopped nuts. Spread icing on cake as it comes out of oven while both are still hot. Serve hot or cold with vanilla ice cream.
