Mocha pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- shortening - 2/3 c
- sifted cake flour - 2 c
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- instant coffee - 1 Tbsp
- sq - 2 oz
How to make mocha pound cake:
Stir shortening to soften. Sift in cake flour, sugar, instant coffee, salt, cream of tartar and soda. Add water and vanilla. Mix until flour is dampened. Then beat vigorously 2 minutes. Add eggs and chocolate. Beat one minute longer.Pour into paper-lined 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake in slow oven at 325° about 65 to 70 minutes or until done. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove. When thoroughly cool, sift confectioners sugar over top.
