Mocha pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sifted cake flour - 2 c
- sugar
- instant coffee - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- shortening - 2/3 c
- water - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- sq - 2 oz
How to make mocha pound cake:
Sift together the cake flour, sugar, coffee, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine the shortening with the flour mixture. Add water and vanilla and mix until flour is dampened. Beat vigorously for 2 minutes. Add eggs and melted chocolate. Beat 1 minute longer. Pour into greased and lightly floured tube pan. Bake at 325° for 45 to 50 minutes. Can also be baked in a loaf pan for 65 to 70 minutes. Cool in pan about 10 minutes.
