  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • nutmeats - 1/2 c
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • Put the margarine, water and cocoa in a saucepan; heat to boiling

How to make mississippi mud cake:

Sift the flour, sugar and salt. Put the margarine, water and cocoa in a saucepan; heat to boiling. Pour over flour mixture and mix. Beat the eggs. Add the soda, buttermilk and vanilla, then add to cocoa mixture. Pour onto greased cookie sheet; bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350°.Icing:1 stick margarine6 Tbsp. water3 Tbsp. cocoa1 box powdered sugar1/2 c. nutmeats1 tsp. vanilla Start icing about 5 minutes before cake is done. Heat, but do not boil the margarine, water and cocoa. Add the powdered sugar, nutmeats and vanilla. Pour over hot cake and spread.
