  • sugar
  • eggs - 4 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2/3 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled - 2 (1
  • nuts optional - 2/3 c
  • 10x sugar - 2 c
  • peppermint extract - 1 tsp
  • margarine soft - 1/2 c
  • drops green food coloring - 3 item
  • cream cheese soft - 6 oz

How to make mint swirl brownies:

Cream together cheese, margarine and sugar. Beat in eggs. Stir together flour, powder and salt. Stir into cream mixture. Spoon half of batter into another bowl; stir in nuts and chocolate. Drop chocolate batter from tablespoon, checker board fashion, into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

To remaining batter, stir in extract and food coloring. Spoon green batter into open spaces in pan. Swirl with spatula to marble. Do not overmix! Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cool. Pour glaze over top.

Glaze: Melt chocolate and margarine over low heat; stir constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in 10x sugar and vanilla.
