Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • sifted flour - 3 c
  • cream of tartar - 3/4 tsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item

How to make mile high biscuits:

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt into bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Combine egg and milk. Add to flour mixture all at once, stirring just enough with fork to make a soft dough that sticks together. Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead lightly 15 times. Roll and cut with 2-inch cutter. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased sheet. Bake at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes.
