Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs, well beaten - 2 item
  • hamburger - 1 lb
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • can cream-style corn - 1 item
  • yellow corn meal - 1 c
  • cheese, grated - 1 lb
  • bacon drippings - 1/2 c

How to make mexican cornbread:

Mix cornmeal, milk, salt, corn, eggs, soda and bacon drippings. Saute meat; drain well. Pour 1/2 batter in greased pan. Sprinkle following ingredients in order: cheese, meat, onions and peppers. Pour remaining batter on top. Bake 45 minutes at 350°.
