  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • baking powder - 4 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • garlic powder - 1 tsp
  • grated cheese - 1/2 lb
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • corn meal - 1 c
  • jalapeno pepper to taste - 1 item
  • can corn cream-style or whole kernel - 1 item

How to make mexican cornbread:

Brown meat, jalapeno pepper, onion, salt, pepper and garlic powder in heavy skillet. Mix flour, corn meal and baking powder. Add egg, corn, milk, sugar and 1/2 of cheese. Mix with meat mixture. Pour into 9 x 13-inch greased pan. Bake at 350° until done. Then put remainder of cheese on top. Cook until melted and bubbly.
