Mexican cornbread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- garlic powder - 1 tsp
- grated cheese - 1/2 lb
- ground beef - 1 lb
- black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- corn meal - 1 c
- jalapeno pepper to taste - 1 item
- can corn cream-style or whole kernel - 1 item
How to make mexican cornbread:
Brown meat, jalapeno pepper, onion, salt, pepper and garlic powder in heavy skillet. Mix flour, corn meal and baking powder. Add egg, corn, milk, sugar and 1/2 of cheese. Mix with meat mixture. Pour into 9 x 13-inch greased pan. Bake at 350° until done. Then put remainder of cheese on top. Cook until melted and bubbly.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, North american.
