Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1 c
  • vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • water - 5 c
  • sweetened whipped cream - 1 item
  • firmly packed dark brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • chocolate syrup - 1/3 c
  • ground cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
  • ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • ground dark roast coffee - 1/2 c
  • ground cinnamon garnish - 1 item

How to make mexican coffee:

Place coffee in coffee filter or filter basket; add cinnamon and nutmeg. Add water to coffeemaker and brew. Combine brown sugar, chocolate syrup and milk in a large heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until brown sugar dissolves. Stir in coffee and vanilla. Serve immediately with a dollop of whipped cream; garnish, if desired. Yield: 6 1/2 cups.
