Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- sour cream - 1/2 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- margarine - 1/4 c
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- bread crumbs - 1/2 c
- ground meat
- onion - 1/2 c
- beef broth
- instant mashed potatoes for 6 to 7
How to make meatballs romanoff:
Meatballs:1 1/2 lb. ground meat1 egg1/2 c. bread crumbs1/2 c. onion1 1/2 tsp. salt1/4 tsp. pepper2 Tbsp. flour2 Tbsp. margarine Sour Cream Sauce:2 Tbsp. flour10 1/2 oz. beef broth1/2 c. sour cream1 Tbsp. lemon juice Potato Border: In large baking bowl, spread potato mixture in bottom and up the sides.Meatballs: Combine meat, egg, crumbs, milk, onion, salt and pepper; shape into balls. Preheat oven to 400°. Roll meatballs in the flour; brown in the oven, saving drippings. Place meatballs in center of Mashed Potato Border.
Sour Cream Sauce: Measure drippings. Add more margarine to equal 2 tablespoons. Return to skillet; add flour until smooth. Gradually add beef broth; bring to boil. Remove from heat. Add sour cream and lemon juice. Simmer 2 minutes; remove from heat. Spoon sauce over meatballs in bowl. Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour.
