  • packed brown sugar - 1/3 c
  • milk - 1 Tbsp
  • butter or margarine - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/8 tsp
  • flour
  • almond extract - 1/2 tsp
  • powdered sugar
  • preserves strawberry or raspberry - 3/4 c

How to make marzipan bars:

Filling:3/4 c. flour1/4 c. butter or margarine1/2 tsp. almond extract3/4 c. preserves (strawberry or raspberry)1/2 c. packed brown sugar1/8 tsp. salt Glaze:3/4 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. almond extract1 Tbsp. milk Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for crumb mixture. Beat at low speed until mixture is crumbly, about 1 to 2 minutes. Press into prepared pan. Bake near center of oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Meanwhile, combine all filling ingredients except preserves. Beat at low speed until well mixed, about 1 to 2 minutes, and set aside.

Spread preserves to within 1/2-inch from edge of hot crust. Sprinkle filling ingredients over preserves. Return to oven and continue baking for 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Combine all glaze ingredients; stir until smooth.

Cool bars completely and then drizzle glaze over cooled bars. Cut into bars.
