Marinated tomatoes
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 2 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1/2 c
- salad oil - 1/2 c
- green pepper, cut into thin strips - 1 item
- onion, sliced thin - 1 item
- a little pepper - 1 item
- large firm ripe tomatoes - 5 item
How to make marinated tomatoes:
Peel the tomatoes and cut into wedges. Put in a large bowl along with onion and green pepper. Sprinkle on salt and pepper. Mix together the vinegar, water, sugar and salad oil. Stir to dissolve sugar. Pour over vegetables and chill.Variation: Add cucumbers, cooked soft cauliflower and soft cooked carrots or broccoli. You may need to add a little more water for taste.
