Marinated tomato salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- medium onion - 1 item
- chopped parsley - 1/4 c
- fresh mushrooms - 6 item
- tomatoes - 6 item
- white vinegar - 1/3 c
- coarsely ground black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- olive or salad oil - 1 c
- sweet basil, crushed - 1 Tbsp
How to make marinated tomato salad:
Peel and slice ripe tomatoes 1/4-inch thick. Slice washed mushrooms and onions paper thin, separating onion slices into rings. Prepare marinade by combining remaining ingredients, except parsley. In serving bowl, layer 1/2 of tomatoes, sprinkle with parsley and drizzle with marinade; repeat with 1/2 of onions and 1/2 of mushrooms. Repeat layers; cover and let stand at room temperature at least one hour. Serve plain or on bed of bibb lettuce. Serves 6 to 8.Recipe categories: Salads, Side dish, Vegetables.
