  • sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • vinegar - 1 c
  • salad oil - 3/4 c
  • dry mustard - 1 tsp
  • celery seed - 1 tsp
  • large green pepper - 1 item
  • large head cabbage - 1 item
  • large onion - 1 item

How to make marinated coleslaw:

Shred cabbage into large bowl. Shred or thinly slice onion and pepper on top of cabbage. Sprinkle sugar to cover entire top. Do not stir! Then bring to a boil the salad oil, vinegar and dry seasonings. Pour over other ingredients while hot. Do not stir! Refrigerate at least 4 hours; overnight is better. Keeps for several days.
