Mahogany cake
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 2 c
- sugar - 2 c
- sour cream - 2/3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- eggs - 2 item
- soda
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- stick oleo - 1 item
- hot water - 1 c
- can Milnot or 3/4 c
- pecans - 1/2 c
- egg yolks - 4 item
- coconut
- powdered sugar - 3 c
- milk - 6 Tbsp
- chopped nuts or coconut - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
How to make mahogany cake:
Filling:1 (6 oz.) can Milnot or 3/4 c. cream1/2 c. pecans2/3 stick oleo1 c. sugar4 egg yolks1 1/3 c. coconut Frosting:1/2 c. cocoa1 tsp. vanilla3 c. powdered sugar6 Tbsp. milk1/2 c. chopped nuts or coconut1/2 c. shortening Cake: Mix dry ingredients. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla, then oleo and hot water. Bake in 2 round layer pans.Filling: Combine Milnot, oleo, sugar and egg yolks. Cook in double boiler until thick, then add coconut and pecans.
Frosting: Combine ingredients.
Put filling in between layers and on top; put frosting on top.
