Macaroni and cheese
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- margarine or butter - 1 item
- dry mustard - 1/4 tsp
- bread crumbs - 3/4 c
- white pepper - 1/8 tsp
- macaroni - 2 c
- small onion, minced - 1 item
- cheese, shredded - 1/4 lb
How to make macaroni and cheese:
Place onion and 2 tablespoons butter in a small pan. Cook until tender. Stir in flour, salt, mustard and pepper. Cook for 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk and cook, stirring until smooth. Add 3/4 of the cheese. Pour macaroni in a dish. Pour cheese sauce over macaroni. Top with remaining cheese. In a pan over low heat, melt 1 tablespoon margarine. Stir this into the bread crumbs and sprinkle this over the cheese. Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes in a 400° oven.Recipe categories: Cheese, Pasta, Elbow macaroni.
