Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • milk
  • butter or margarine - 1/2 c
  • salt - 3 tsp
  • flour - 1/3 c
  • dry mustard - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • catsup - 1/4 c
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 1/4 c
  • chopped parsley - 1/3 c
  • lean ground beef - 2 lb
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 3 item
  • beef bouillon, white wine or water - 1/4 c

How to make macaroni and beef casserole:

Saute meat and onion in 2 tablespoons margarine until brown and crumbly. Combine with macaroni, catsup, bouillon, 1/2 cup cheese, parsley, pepper, cinnamon and 2 teaspoons salt. Turn into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan, sprayed. Heat remaining 6 tablespoons butter; add flour and cook until bubbly, gradually stir in milk. Add remaining 1 teaspoon salt and mustard. Cook, stirring until thickened. Gradually stir the hot mixture into eggs. Pour over macaroni mixture and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
