- butter - 1/3 c
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 3/4 c
- chopped carrots - 3/4 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- barley - 1/2 c
- canned chicken - 3 5
- chicken bouillon more if necessary - 2 c
- lentils, well rinsed - 3/4 c
How to make lentil and barley soup:
In a large saucepan over moderate heat, melt butter. Add onion and celery; cook until onion is lightly browned. Stir in bouillon, lentils, barley, carrots, salt, pepper and chicken. Bring to a boil; simmer until beans are tender.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Beans, Lentil.
