Lemon pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- butter - 1 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- lemon extract - 2 tsp
- grated lemon peel - 1 Tbsp
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition
How to make lemon pound cake:
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Gradually add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Mix well after each addition. Add lemon extract and peel. Mix on low until blended. Pour into a greased, fluted tube pan. Bake at 350° for 70 minutes or until cake tests done. Turn out onto a rack to cool.Glaze:1 stick butter1 c. powdered sugar2 Tbsp. lemon juice1 tsp. grated lemon peel Combine all ingredients and drizzle over cool cake.
